The Memphis Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect believed to have abducted a woman who has since been found safe. Early Saturday morning, a distress call from a residence on Grey Bark Drive sparked the initial investigation into what was reported as a kidnapping incident.
Memphis Police Department pieced together the series of events with the help of doorbell camera footage and a witness account, that confirmed a suspected abduction by 32-year-old Joseph Brown, according to Action News 5. The footage showed a glimpse of Brown, the man with a receding hairline and patchy beard,, and a vehicle linked to the early morning disturbance.
Following a City Watch alert and extensive search, the Memphis Police Department announced that the victim, Shannon Scott, was located and is safe. Based on reports from Local Memphis, Brown's Saturn-style vehicle was also recovered, though the suspect remains at large.
Authorities say Brown has known family ties in Desoto County, Mississippi, and are calling for public assistance to capture the fleeing suspect. A witness during the time of abduction recounted hearing Scott "shouting in distress," as reported by FOX13 Memphis.
