Family fun is on the agenda at Northside Branch Library, as they gear up to host a vibrant celebration for the Day of the Child, El Día del Niño, on the evening of April 30. Free and open to everyone, the festivity promises a range of fun-packed activities and entertainment suited for youngsters of all stripes from 5 to 7 p.m., according to the City of Fort Worth.

The Day of the Child festivities are set to allow families to bond and shower their little ones with attention and happiness. A stay-as-you-please event, the library's doors will be open for families to wander in at their leisure during the festival hours. An assortment of engaging games, hands-on crafts, and lively performances await attendees.

Established in Mexico and celebrated for nearly a century on April 30th, El Día del Niño is a legacy of the first World Conference for the Well-being of Children which took place in 1925. The conference set in motion an international recognition, where countries worldwide adopted practices to honor and advocate for the rights and joys of their youngest citizens.

Traditionally, Mexican cities come alive with public celebrations for El Día del Niño, delivering a spectacle of parades, magicians, and various performers engaging with children in popular spots such as malls and amusement parks. The ethos of the day encapsulates not only the fun and exuberance of childhood but also the collectively held belief that our children are precious resources to be nurtured and celebrated.
