Jet-setters flying through Chicago's O'Hare International Airport have new spots to grab a bite or pick up some gear, thanks to the latest wave of dining and shopping options that have landed in Terminal 3. O'Hare has officially opened its doors to Half Moon Empanadas, ChiBoys, and Hudson Nonstop, expanding its culinary and retail concessions just in time for the heavy traffic expected this summer travel season.

At a ceremonial ribbon-cutting today, Mayor Brandon Johnson lauded the openings as more than mere convenience for travelers; they're a nod to Chicago's vibrant culture and a testament to the city's commitment to fostering diversity in local business. "These new concessions are more than just an opportunity to provide world-class dining and retail experiences for travelers in Terminal 3 that showcase Chicago’s vibrant culture and entrepreneurial spirit," the mayor said, as reported by city officials. CDA Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee echoed this, noting the new establishments would enrich the O'Hare experience while backing diverse local businesses.

Each outpost brings a slice of Chicago to airport-goers: Half Moon Empanadas dishes out authentic Latin American eats, ChiBoys offers Chicago-inspired apparel, and Hudson Nonstop streamlines shopping with its tech-savvy, checkout-free experience. "The Half Moon Empanadas locations are the ‘face’ of the brand and we take great pride in crafting a menu and environment that reflects our company values, shares our Hispanic culture, and highlights the contributions of minority and women-owned businesses," founders Pilar and Juan Zavala told CDA Media Relations.

ChiBoys creator DeShawn Murry could hardly contain his enthusiasm about the opening: "To say ‘opening a store at O’Hare is an honor’ would be an understatement," he said, emphasizing the significance of showcasing the pride of Chicago on a global stage. Meanwhile, Brian Quinn of Hudson highlighted the joy of innovating retail to enhance travel, "We are proud to be a part of the continued evolution of Chicago O’Hare International Airport and to make travelers happier along their journey by providing innovative retail experiences like Hudson Nonstop," he said, according to the CDA’s announcement.

These terminal treats are the latest in a series of upgrades sprucing up Windy City's airports. Just this past January, O'Hare's Terminal 5 unveiled Bar Siena and The Hampton Social, and Midway's Central Market got a makeover in November as part of a multi-decade modernization effort, beefing up Chicago's airport system which handles over 105 million passengers annually and pumps a hefty $70 billion into the local economy every year without dipping into taxpayer pockets.
