A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning when a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy struck and killed a pedestrian in Pompano Beach. According to a statement obtained by Local 10, the crash happened shortly after 5:30 a.m., near Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Northwest 16 Avenue.

Claudinne Caro, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, relayed that deputies responded to the scene of the crash promptly. "Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded," Caro stated, adding that they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The accident led to the closure of the area as BSO traffic homicide detectives launched their investigation into the fatal collision, as reported by Local 10.

A witness in the vicinity described the harrowing moment to NBC Miami. "When I heard a noise, I heard skid marks," he said. "Skrrr, bah! And then I jumped up. I came out to look and I just see all these sheriffs and paramedics out here."
