A motorcyclist met a fatal end in a collision in Salem, with authorities confirming the death of 32-year-old Zachary Hendrickson following an early morning crash on Wednesday, as KOIN reported. The incident, involving a motorcycle and a car on Commercial St. SE, drew immediate attention from bystanders and a police officer who provided aid, but Hendrickson succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.

The driver of the car, identified as 54-year-old Shannon Evans of Salem, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation as officers closed Commercial Street between Hilfiker Lane and 12th Street Cutoff for an extended period, the closure lasted for almost three-and-a-half hours during the investigation, this according to information provided by KPTV.

Angela Hedrick, spokeswoman for the Salem Police Department, stated that the northbound lanes of Commercial had to be closed at 7:30 a.m. in the aftermath of the accident but were later reopened around three hours after, and as per reports this crash marks the 10th traffic fatality in Salem this year, this was reported by Salem Reporter.
