A San Antonio woman was shot in the back at an apartment complex yesterday evening, in a chilling incident that unfolded after she and a man stepped outside to investigate suspicious activity around their vehicles, local police reported.

Around 9:30 p.m., the pair heard noises suggesting someone might have been tampering with their cars in the lot of the complex on the 4900 block of Gus Eckert Road. When they went to check, four individuals abruptly exited a vehicle and began to indiscriminately open fire, striking the woman once in the back. The male companion managed to escape injury, according to the KENS 5.

Police have commenced an investigation into the attack, which they believe involved juveniles. The suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately following the shooting. The injured woman was promptly taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
