San Diego Police Search for Suspect in Linda Vista Home Invasion and Assault on Young GirlSource: Google Street View

San Diego Police are on the hunt for a suspect following a distressing break-in and sexual assault of a young girl in Linda Vista. As reported by 10News, the intruder entered the home through an unlocked door around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

The invader, described as either Caucasian or Hispanic and around 5 feet 8 or 5 feet 9 inches tall, found his way into a bedroom where a 5-year-old girl was sleeping and "inappropriately touched" her before fleeing. The girl recounted the incident to her father, who immediately called 911. Despite scouring the neighborhood with the aid of K-9 units, the authorities came up empty-handed in their search for the assailant.

According to a statement by the San Diego Police obtained by FOX 5 San Diego, the neighborhood predominantly serves as military housing. The suspect was last seen sporting a dark jacket, which may be a windbreaker and dark pants. The suspect's weight is estimated to be between 160-180 pounds.

Investigators have dedicated over seven hours to the case since the incident, collecting evidence well into the morning hours. Police continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to an apprehension.
