Los Angeles is about to get a taste of South Korea's café culture as Camel Coffee, a much-loved brand in Seoul, sets up shop in Silver Lake. The café chain has picked a charming 2,000-square-foot venue at 4459 Sunset Boulevard to house its first U.S. outpost. In a report from Eater, operations manager Joshua Park and his wife, the owner Alice Kim, brought the franchise to the city, eager to share their passion for finely crafted coffee and unique interior spaces.

Slated to officially open its doors this May, Camel Coffee LA is poised to quickly become a neighborhood staple with its two-story layout and an inviting outdoor patio. The store's design promises to seamlessly blend into the trendy Silver Lake scene. Joshua Park told Eater that the concept is all about "superior interior design, exciting collaborations, and amazing coffee," and if its success in South Korea is any measure, L.A. patrons are in for a treat.

The café’s menu is set to feature signature items that have garnered a following back home, such as the Camel Coffee blend that's topped with a custom cream formulation and built on a sturdy foundation of a double espresso shot and milk. Diversifying the beverage options, Camel Coffee will also be offering milk tea and a traditional Korean multi-grain beverage known as misugaru. Savory pastries complement the drink lineup, with a specialty called "le tigre"—akin to a caramelized sugar and hazelnut butter-madeleine hybrid—among the treats featured.

With 11 locations already a fixture on Seoul’s coffee scene and another in Busan, Camel Coffee is more than accustomed to serving busy urbanites on their daily grind. The expansion to Los Angeles marks an ambitious move overseas, aiming to replicate the allure that has made it a household name in South Korea. As fans of the brand eagerly anticipate the grand opening, Camel Coffee is set to slowly introduce its unique coffee culture to Los Angeles' discerning coffee aficionados.
