A Southeast D.C. man has been collared by Metropolitan Police after a daylight shooting left one person wounded last month, authorities said. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Calvon Brown, was nabbed by members of the Criminal Apprehension Unit after a weekslong manhunt. The violent confrontation unfolded inside a business in the 2400 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, where tensions escalated quickly between Brown and the victim.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, It was on March 22 at around 4:29 p.m. when the scrap, which began inside, spilled out onto the street and that is when the suspect brandished a firearm and allegedly shot the other individual. After being shot, the victim scrambled to the Sixth Police District Substation for medical help, while Brown disappeared from the crime scene.

Police said a firearm and ammunition were seized at the time of Brown's arrest on April 25. The accused now faces multiple charges related to the incident, including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and being a Felon in Possession. These charges punctuate the narrative of another violent skirmish in the streets of D.C., authorities marked by the seizure of illegal armaments from those prohibited by law to wield them.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld, sought and received medical assistance immediately after the incident, and their condition remains undisclosed by law enforcement, Brown, whose arrest marks a closure to the March 22 shooting, awaits prosecution on the aforementioned charges which could lead to a significant stint behind bars if convicted.
