Supino Pizzeria Reopens for Take-Out in Detroit's Eastern Market After Fire RecoverySource: Google Street View

Supino Pizzeria, a beloved Detroit eatery, has made its much-anticipated comeback in Eastern Market nearly a year after a devastating fire forced its doors shut. On Tuesday, the renowned pizza shop swung open its doors for take-out services, providing hope and cheesy delight to its loyal fanbase craving their favorite slices. In an Instagram announcement highlighted by WXYZ, the pizzeria laid out its new operational schedule from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended takeout service beginning this week.

While eager customers queue up to once again to savor their famous thin-crust pizzas, the Eastern Market location, reportedly damaged by a fire in the residential area above the restaurant, took considerable time and effort to rehabilitate. In a statement obtained by Free Press, the pizzeria expressed its hopes to fully reopen its dining room  "hopefully in the next month or so, when our dining room has been fully renovated."

The fire, which took place on April 24, led to extensive water damage throughout the establishment but, thankfully, resulted in no injuries. Supino Pizzeria, under the ownership of Dave Mancini, has earned its reputation for a variety of pies, including house-made Italian sausage to Margherita pizzas topped with fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. While the Eastern Market location is ramping up, the pizzeria also reminded patrons that its New Center location remains open for dine-in services, as was mentioned by WXYZ.

Supino's executive chef Michael Mike Mazzola shared with WWJ Newsradio that after a year of tireless work, and the installation of a brand new kitchen, they're now able to once again start making pizzas. "We'll be selling pizza by the slice, whole pies, we'll have it all for you today," Mazzola stated. The pizzeria aims to have its dining space ready for Flower Day at Eastern Market on May 19th, a sign that Supino Pizzeria is determined to quickly return to becoming a bustling hub for pizza aficionados.
