A Navy Yard stroll turned dangerous on a sunny Saturday morning when a 47-year-old man allegedly threatened a pedestrian with a knife, Metropolitan Police reported. The incident unfolded near the intersection of 4th and Tingey Streets SE, causing alarm among nearby witnesses.

According to MPD's official release, it was just past 11:30 a.m. on April 20 when the suspect, later identified as Robert Cohn of Southeast D.C., supposedly approached the victim. An act of courage by bystanders who stepped in led to the suspect fleeing the scene before any harm could be delivered.

Officers from the First District arrived promptly, scouring the area for the individual in question. Their search ended successfully a short time later when Cohn was apprehended and charged with felony threats—the swift justice presumably a relief for the Navy Yard community.
