A grim scene unfolded late Tuesday night in Victorville when Esperanza Guerra, a 44-year-old resident, was killed following a collision involving her gray Honda Civic and a red Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck, officials said.

Emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Nisqualli Road and Sixth Avenue at about 11:23 P.M. However, despite their efforts, Guerra's injuries proved fatal, and she died at the scene while traffic was rerouted from Seventh to Fourth Avenue causing a standstill and further investigations are ongoing, according to a statement released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

The Major Accident Investigation Team from Victorville has taken charge of the case.
