Wandering Bear Stirs Excitement in Corvallis, Oregon as Authorities Urge CautionSource: Facebook/City of Corvallis Police Department

Corvallis, usually a quiet Oregon town, was abuzz early Sunday when residents reported a bear meandering through its streets. The bear's early morning visit became the talk of the town as it was spotted prowling landmarks such as the Linn-Benton Community College campus and was last seen near Oregon State University's dairy fields.

Starting its tour at about 3 a.m., this wayward bear cut a swath across central and west Corvallis, prompting the Corvallis Police Department to put out an alert. According to a Facebook post from the department, calls started coming in at 3:11 a.m. A local couldn't believe their eyes.

The Corvallis Police Department immediately reached out to the Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. KPTV reported that authorities have been in close communication regarding the bear and are actively monitoring the situation, highlighting the seriousness with which local officials are taking the unexpected guest.

As the bear was making its exit out of Corvallis by 8 a.m., the police department urged people to be cautious. "In response to this unusual occurrence" a bear roam free in a populated area, "the Corvallis Police Department has been in close communication with the Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife," authorities said in statement obtained by Democrat-Herald. Residents have been advised to not approach or interact with the bear and to seek shelter indoors until it moves on.

The bear sightings have ceased since the early morning, but this incident will surely be a memorable one for the Corvallis community. The authorities continue to monitor the situation, and residents are reminded to remain vigilant as Oregon's diverse wildlife occasionally finds its way into human territory.
