A Wildomar son is behind bars after his mother was found stabbed to death inside her home on Breckenridge Trail. Evan Jon Zavala, 24, is facing murder charges for the attack that left a 64-year-old woman, his mother, fatally wounded.

The tragic scene was uncovered by deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station who, on April 22 at 9:54 p.m., responded to a disturbance call. They found the victim with multiple stab wounds and desperately tried to save her life. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the woman was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation shortly thereafter. Zavala was detained at the scene and later transported to the Cois Byrd Detention Center, with the authorities confirming that there are no additional suspects being sought.

As this case has shaken the small community of Wildomar, investigators are digging for answers and urge anyone with information to step forward.
