Acworth Police Officers Lauded for Quick Action to Save Man at Local Gas StationSource: Facebook/Acworth Police Department

Two Acworth police officers are being hailed as heroes after saving a man's life at a local RaceTrac gas station on May 3, FOX 5 Atlanta reports. Officers Tamara Severtson and Jaylin Stanley noticed the man in medical distress, seizing, and quickly sprang into action as he ceased breathing and started turning blue. They performed CPR, reviving the man before he was taken to the hospital by Metro EMS.

The lifesaving drama, caught on bodycam, reveals the officers' swift response when the man, who was leaning against his car, slid to the ground in a seizure. "Breathe for me, breathe for me, breathe for me," one officer urged during the chest compressions, a scene detailed in the harrowing footage shared by the 11Alive coverage.

Once the man was resuscitated and could breathe on his own, the officers kept him calm, reassuring him with words "You're OK, we are right here with you, OK," to which he faintly replied, "I appreciate it." The moment captured was a poignant exchange amid the chaos, an officer saying, "We got him, we got him, we got him," as the man regained his breath. After a few minutes, the man shared his medical history with the officers, who informed him about the possibility of cracked ribs due to CPR, as reported by 11Alive.

Displaying humanity along with their professionalism, the officers even joked to keep spirits light. "Your limousine is here for ya," one officer quipped as the ambulance arrived, to which the man responded with a touch of humor, "Oh yeah, I love limousines." They further assisted by pushing his vehicle to the side, assured the community through a Facebook post by the Acworth Police Department, that "a life was saved,", and received an outpouring of gratitude in the comments. "Y'all are awesome," one person said, while another expressed, "Outstanding effort by both of you officers! The citizens of Acworth are blessed to have you both serving the community."

Officer Severtson, notable for saving another life back in March when a woman began choking, has demonstrated her commitment to public service alongside Officer Stanley.
