Chaos erupted in the quiet town of Apple Valley on Tuesday afternoon, as deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department apprehended two burglary suspects after a high-speed chase that devolved into a foot pursuit. The incident, which occurred in the 20000 block of Ottawa Road, saw Eddie Perez Madrigal, a 42-year-old resident of Apple Valley, and Tyler Andrew Segura, 28, from Barstow, try to flee after allegedly breaking into a local home.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that they received a distress call at approximately 4:36 p.m. on April 30, 2024, alerting them to a burglary. The homeowner claimed to have almost been hit by the suspects as they left the scene in a green Ram pickup truck. Deputies caught up with the vehicle, but the suspects, Madrigal and Segura,, bailed and ran on foot upon noticing law enforcement closing in.

After a swift foot chase, both suspects were captured within minutes and were taken into custody without incident. Madrigal will now face the bars of the High Desert Detention Center, while Segura has been booked into the West Valley Detention Center. It was revealed by authorities that both men were previously on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), which has since been revoked, ensuring they are now being held without bail.

The Sheriff's Office is keen to dig deeper into the matter and has encouraged anyone with information to step forward. According to a statement from the department, contacts can reach Deputy Sanders at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station or call the Sheriff's Dispatch directly. Those wishing to provide information anonymously can contact the We-Tip Hotline or visit their website. With the suspects in custody, the streets of Apple Valley have returned to their usual pace, but the echo of yesterday's crime lingers in the air.
