Early this morning, Boston police apprehended a young man after discovering a stolen firearm during a traffic stop in Roxbury. Terrance Porter, 21, of Allston, was arrested and faces multiple firearm charges, as detailed in a report from the Boston Police Department.

Patrolling officers observed Porter's vehicle fail to stop at multiple stop signs near Brinsley Street and Washington Street around 12:44 AM. When they attempted to pull him over, the driver did not immediately comply, leading to a brief pursuit that ended at 173 Washington Street. Porter's nervous demeanor upon interaction prompted the officers to request that he step out of the vehicle, which he initially resisted. The police had to insist strongly on safely proceeding with their investigation.

According to officers, once out of the vehicle, a pat frisk led to the unearthing of a Glock 23 with a high-capacity magazine and a laser sight—later confirmed stolen. The discovery saw Porter being taken into custody.

Charges against Porter include unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, along with receiving stolen property. Porter is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. This incident is part of the ongoing issues in cities where authorities grapple to keep guns off the streets.
