The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, issued an alert early this morning as dense fog enveloped the region, reducing visibility and complicating the morning rush for commuters across New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

Visibility has been reported as low as 1 to 3 miles across the board however, patches of particularly dense fog have been causing visibilities to plummet to a mere 1/2 mile or less in some locales, which has prompted the National Weather Service to advise caution, slow driving and the use of low beam headlights.

Meanwhile, after the foggy start, the weather is expected to clear up in Philadelphia later today, with forecasts predicting "mostly sunny" skies and temperatures soaring to a high near 88 degrees, as mentioned in the NWS update. Nighttime will bring mostly clear skies and a dip in temperature to around 59 degrees.

Philadelphia should brace for a variation in weather over the upcoming days; after enjoying a sunny Friday with highs around 71, there's a "slight chance of showers after 2 pm" on Saturday and a more definite shift comes on Saturday night when showers are likely and the chance of precipitation jumps to 60%, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

For the tail end of the weekend, "showers likely" continues to set the tone, with cloudy skies and a 70% chance of rain on Sunday, followed by continued chances of showers and mostly cloudy conditions extending into the early part of next week.
