In a fatal encounter in north Houston, a man who entered an apartment uninvited was shot and killed early Thursday morning. The incident, which occurred in the 1400 block of W. Gulf Bank Road around 12:30 a.m., resulted in the death of the intruder at the hands of an apartment resident. FOX 26 Houston reports that witnesses saw the man walk past two people outside their apartment and enter it without exchanging words.

The residents, standing outside their apartment, confronted the individual who forcibly entered. Trying to remove him, a disturbance broke out, which led to the resident shooting the intruder in the chest, according to the same report. Meanwhile, the male, without saying anything to the two people he passed, walked right into the apartment, which turned out to be his last act.

The Houston Police Department, responding to the shooting, found the man deceased inside the apartment. Details from KIAH reveal that residents asked the man about his intentions before the forcible ejection turned violent. One of the homeowners, in possession of a firearm, shot the individual who was perceived as a home invader.

The shooter and a witness, cooperating with the authorities, were taken into custody. While holding a gun, the homeowner fired shots, the investigation remains ongoing as police work with the individuals involved to unravel the exact circumstances of the shooting.
