Memphis is reeling from a violent night that saw multiple shootings across the city, leaving the community on edge as police scramble to piece together the events. The Memphis Police Department has confirmed at least four separate incidents, commencing with a shooting on the 300 block of Inwood Drive in Whitehaven at about 9 p.m.

Details remain scant, but according to WREG, the night of chaos continued with another gunfire outbreak in South Memphis past 2 a.m., located in the 1200 block of Neptune Street. At least one person from the series of events was transported to the hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries isn't currently known.

In a related Whitehaven violence, a teenage altercation turned into a gunfight over something as trivial as a drink. According to a report by Action News 5, police arrived at a home on Inwood Drive Sunday night to find a 16-year-old who had shot his 17-year-old brother in the arm, the latter explaining that the dispute was "over a drink." The shooter confessed to the act and indicated a backdrop of domestic violence with his sibling.

Shortly after 3 a.m., officers answered another call in Whitehaven in the 1400 block of East Brooks Road, swiftly followed by a gunfire incident on Longfellow Road in the Nutbush area. The Nutbush shooting was particularly chaotic as a man was shot in the eye after stopping to ask for directions, resulting in an altercation with a group beside a truck, as reported by a FOX13 Memphis story. The victim believed his brother was killed while trying to flee the scene.

Police discovered a vehicle involved in the Nutbush shootout, which was linked to earlier attempted robberies. With casualties arriving at the hospital in critical conditions, investigators found multiple shell casings and an assortment of other items, including a cell phone and a sword, at the scene. Despite the proximity of danger, the homeowner claimed he was asleep during the shooting, and no one inside the residence was injured.
