A Miami family is in mourning and seeking justice after 62-year-old Mae Ruth Jackson was tragically killed in a hit-and-run. The incident occurred late Monday night as Jackson was crossing a street with her bicycle. According to WSVN, surveillance footage captured the moment a white pickup truck struck her, leaving her to slide down the road and into a storm drain, where she was left for dead.

Heartbroken, the victim's daughter, Sabrina Jackson, conveyed the horror of the situation to WSVN with the white pickup truck driving on into the night, leaving Sabrina's mother laying helplessly. “I can’t stop replaying that video footage of my mom being hit,” said Sabrina Jackson. “And somebody just leaving her like an animal, not even stopping, like, it’s been crazy. Every time I close my eyes, that’s all I see.”

A vigil to remember Mae Ruth was held on Wednesday, where the victim's mother, too upset to face the camera, held a teddy bear closely at a makeshift memorial at the site of her daughter's untimely passing. Miami Police have located the vehicle believed to be involved a few blocks away from the scene, yet no arrests have been made, as stated in a report by NBC Miami.

"He left me without a mom. It’s Mother’s Day. She’s the rock. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without her," Aisha Jackson told NBC Miami, visibly emotional and looking for the driver responsible to come forward. Sabrina Jackson added "We are a praying family and we know that vengeance is the lord’s and that, I just want him to turn himself in," during the haunting ordeal after the driver left Mae Ruth in the street.

The Jackson family were in the midst of planning Mother’s Day celebrations with Mae Ruth, who just celebrated her 62nd birthday in January. Now, the family of the beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother faces the grim task of arranging her funeral. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and urges anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward. They can be contacted at 305-471-TIPS.
