San Antonio highways have become the focal point of concern for residents who are demanding immediate action on road safety after two major incidents on Highway 90. In a recent tragedy highlighted by FOX San Antonio, 22-year-old Isaac Talamentes lost his life, amplifying calls for infrastructure improvements. The fatal accident has stirred up considerable unease within the community, with locals like Alexandria Miller advocating for necessary changes. "It's very dangerous. It's scary for our kids," Miller told FOX San Antonio in an interview.

Compounding these safety concerns, another driver was hospitalized after a harrowing crash where witnesses described the vehicle swerving before it rolled over onto railroad tracks. The accident happened near Highway 90 and General Hudnell, as reported by KSAT. The driver, a 29-year-old man, had to be quickly extracted and rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. While attempting to not discount the possibility of driver impairment, authorities stated that no charges are currently pending as the crash remains under investigation.

Bexar County officials are starting to take notice, with Judge Peter Sakai pointing out the urgency. "On that western sector, we're focusing on improvements, especially for safety," Judge Sakai stated in comments obtained by FOX San Antonio. The county and the Texas Department of Transportation are currently considering various strategies to enhance safety along the highway corridor.

However, despite these forward-looking comments by Judge Sakai, specifics on the exact nature of potential traffic improvements remain forthcoming. In light of the dire situation, Miller and other residents have suggested their own solutions which include, among others, installing a stoplight to better regulate the emerging chaos. "I'd love to see them put in a stoplight," Miller expressed to FOX San Antonio. "We need clear stopping goes...especially before that new development down the road opens up."
