Seattle Police Arrest Two Teens Suspected in Armed Carjacking, Chase Spans Multiple NeighborhoodsSource: Seattle Police Department

Seattle's streets turned into the scene of a high-stakes chase as police apprehended two teenagers following an armed carjacking on April 12, according to authorities. The duo, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, allegedly brandished a firearm to commandeer a white Audi SUV from its owner, as reported by the Seattle Police Department blotter. The crime occurred in West Seattle, specifically on the 9200 block of 35th Ave Southwest, sparking a rapid response from law enforcement following the 7:46 p.m. incident.

Subsequent to the carjacking, the police rapidly tracked down the stolen vehicle to an area close to Southwest 112th and 15th Ave Southwest where they found it abandoned en route, officers spotted a dark-colored Hyundai, the suspects' initial mode of transport, instantly recognizing it and when they attempted a traffic stop, the suspects fled, leading to a coordinated pursuit engaging multiple law enforcement agencies including the Seattle Police Department, King County Sheriff's Office, and the Washington State Patrol.

The pursuit reached its end when the suspects stopped their car and dashed into a nearby ravine, prompting a tactical containment of the area. The King County Sheriff’s Office deployed Guardian 1, an aerial unit, which managed to pinpoint the suspects' hiding spots. Officers then deployed a K-9 unit and successfully tracked down the individuals in the ravine, resulting in their arrest for multiple charges including robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and unlawful possession of firearms as detailed by the SPD's blog.

Upon the arrest of the teenagers, authorities discovered one gun and assorted items the culprits had shed during their flight; these finds corroborated the charges against the youths, who were subsequently booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. All vehicles involved were secured for further forensic processing.
