A tragedy unfolded in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle as the police launched a homicide investigation following the death of a child on Wednesday evening. According to the Seattle Police Department's blotter, the incident occurred on the 3000 block of 21st Avenue West.

Police were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting came through. Upon their arrival, officers found an adult female who reported her child had been shot. The Seattle Fire Department personnel were shortly on-site and pronounced a child dead at the scene. The officers cordoned off a section of the area until the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit took over.

Further into the investigation, police detained two people concerning the incident. These subjects are currently being interviewed by detectives to uncover the circumstances that led to this unspeakable event. The identities of those involved have not yet been released, maintaining a veil over a neighborhood in mourning.
