Commuters on the MacArthur Causeway faced significant delays this morning when a dump truck burst into flames near Parrot Jungle Trail. According to WSVN, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., and Miami Fire Rescue teams were quickly on site to control the fire. Despite the abrupt interruption to the morning's flow, no injuries were reported.
While the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, drivers encountered blocked lanes as all westbound traffic at Parrot Jungle Trail was rerouted. It was advised by WSVN for travelers to avoid the area and consider alternate routes such as the Venetian Causeway, Julia Tuttle Causeway, and the 79th Street Causeway.
Footage from NBC Miami showed emergency crews, battling the fire as a snarl of vehicles stretched for miles behind the scene. Initially, all lanes were shut down, causing a significant backlog during the rush hour on the westbound side of the MacArthur Causeway at Watson Island.
Details regarding the truck fire remain sparse, with first responders working diligently having contain the flames, as revealed by the same NBC Miami report. Area drivers are expected to experience the knock-on effects for the remainder of the morning and are encouraged to remain patient and plan for extra travel time.
