Earlier today, a fire broke out at a marina in Staten Island, engulfing four boats in flames. According to ABC7NY, the incident occurred at around 4:45 a.m. on Mansion Avenue in the Great Kills section. Fire crews battled the blaze for over an hour before bringing it under control, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The affected boats sustained significant damage, and authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
Simultaneously, the FDNY was engaged in a challenging response due to reduced visibility caused by darkness and fog, complicating their efforts. Around 12 units and 60 FDNY and EMS personnel were dispatched to the marina, where despite the difficult conditions, managed to contain the blaze to the boats initially ignited.
Locals in the vicinity were subjected to a pervasive stench as the fire rendered a strong smell of acrid smoke into the neighborhood.
