An 18-wheeler caught fire on the Hardy Toll Road in north Harris County early this morning, leading to significant traffic backups as emergency services responded to the blaze. According to ABC13, Lt. Terry Garza with the Harris County Sheriff's Office reported the vehicle was "fully engulfed in flames" on the southbound side of the road at Cypress Creek/FM 1960.
By 10:45 a.m., live footage from Houston TranStar showed white smoke still pouring out of the heavily burned truck and spreading across multiple traffic lanes. Officials urged motorists to avoid the area and to expect to face delays inevitably. For those navigating Houston roads, ABC13 recommended subscribing to real-time traffic alerts to help avoid congested routes.
The Precinct 4 Constable's Office also confirmed the incident, stating that Constable Deputies and the Spring Fire Department were actively working the vehicle fire located in the 21200 block of Hardy Toll Road and FM 1960. They advised that the southbound lanes had been shut down by emergency crews.
No injuries were reported at the time of the fire.
