A fire broke out early morning at the River Bend Apartments on Jr College Boulevard in Wharton, damaging eight units and displacing 18 residents. No injuries were reported, and all residents evacuated safely, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
Multiple fire and emergency agencies responded to a fire that started around 2:30 a.m., including Wharton Fire and EMS, Hungerford, Glen Flora, East Bernard, Boling, and El Campo Fire and EMS. Their quick response helped evacuate the residents, according to KHOU.
Wharton Police and the State Fire Marshal are investigating a fire that damaged two vacant units and displaced residents from six others. Officials say the fire does not appear to be intentional. Wharton ISD is accepting donations of clothing and shoes at different school campuses, with details available on the district’s Facebook page.
