Students and staff at Perry Hall Middle School experienced a disruption to their routine yesterday, when an unusual odor led to the evacuation of the entire school. According to a report by NottinghamMD, the Baltimore County Fire Department received a call and promptly responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Fire officials, having arrived at the school, undertook the necessary measures to assure the safety of all present. They systematically evacuated the students amidst reports of mild symptoms, which were treated at the scene, reported by WMAR 2 News. The school, after a thorough investigation by the fire department, was deemed to have no immediate threats to public health or safety.
Out of an abundance of caution, the administration at Perry Hall Middle School cleared the building. They have announced that the school will reopen today, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. This window is specifically designated for students to return and gather any personal items they may have been compelled to leave behind during Friday's evacuation, as staff will be available to assist them during this time.
