On Tuesday morning, a semi-truck caught fire on southbound I-15 near Primm, causing delays. The fire happened around 4:30 a.m. near mile marker 5. Reports say the driver noticed brake problems, which led to a small fire at the back of the trailer, according to News 3 LV.
Despite attempts to control the flames with an extinguisher, the fire escalated. "The driver then unhooked his trailer and pulled away before it became engulfed in flames," detailed FOX5 Vegas in their coverage of the event. The lanes on the right side of I-15 were closed to traffic, and motorists were advised to expect delays while cleanup operations took place.
A vehicle fire caused by brake failure on southbound I-15 blocked the road. Trooper Shawn Haggstrom said no one was injured. The left shoulder was reopened for single-file traffic, but two lanes will remain closed for several hours while cleanup and investigation continue.
