Two individuals were airlifted to a trauma center with serious burn injuries following an RV fire in Hernando County, according to local fire officials. The blaze took place this morning in the 35000 block of Goolsby St., with responders arriving at the scene around 3 a.m., as per FOX 13 News.
Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) reported that upon arrival, they found one RV "fully engulfed in flames" and another RV also partially on fire. The two victims, who were inside the RV, were immediately treated for burns while firefighters worked to quench the flames, Patch informed.
The incident prompted a swift response from firefighting crews, and after their concerted efforts, the fire was brought under control within about 30 minutes. Following the treatment at the scene, the burn victims were transported to the hospital in a serious condition by medical helicopters, detailed in a statement obtained by Tampa Bay 28.
While the victims continue to receive care, the cause of the blaze remains under the scrutiny of fire investigators. Although specifics regarding the ignition point remain unknown, the state fire marshal’s officer has been engaged to determine the fire's origin. No further casualties have been reported in the incident, according to a social media post by HCFR republished by the media outlets.
