Famed for impeccable performances and masterful interpretations of the Baroque repertoire, conductor Masaaki Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan present J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio for their Davies Symphony Hall debut. Bach Collegium Japan is an ensemble consisting of performers of original instruments and choir formed in 1990 by Masaaki Suzuki, the internationally renowned and highly reputed Bach performer, organist harpsichordist, conductor, and musicologist. Bach Collegium Japan performs frequently in Japan and overseas with the aim of presenting ideal interpretations of Baroque music centering on the religious works of J.S. Bach.`Joining them in this performance will also be Soprano Sherezade Panthaki, countertenor Jay Carter, tenor Zachary Wilder, and bass Dominik Worner. Hear exquisite cantatas evoking the wonder and glory of Christmas.
