Opening Reception for Bill Fontana

Friday, February 16 | 6-9pm

SFAI—Fort Mason Campus | Main Gallery and Gray Box Gallery

Please join us in celebration of Bill Fontana: Landscape Sculpture with Foghorns at San Francisco Art Institute’s new Fort Mason Campus.

For the past four decades, acclaimed Bay Area sound artist Bill Fontana has invited his audience to explore the act of listening as a creative practice. Spanning a variety of experimental media and traversing several continents, Fontana’s installations and multimedia artworks play with the perception of sound, time, and space to explore how heightened perception—deep looking and listening—changes the way we experience the world.

Now, in a new exhibition that is part of the year-long opening celebration of San Francisco Art Institute’s (SFAI) new Fort Mason Campus, Fontana revisits work created at that same site decades ago and presents several recent audiovisual works, some never before exhibited.

Bill Fontana: Landscape Sculpture with Foghorns is curated by Katie Hood Morgan, Curator of Exhibitions and Public Programs.
