Campbell Police Seek Public's Aid to Identify Suspect in Daytime Assault on San Tomas Aquino RoadSource: Campbell Police Department

The City of Campbell Police Department is calling on the public to help identify a man involved in a brazen daylight assault. According to their report, on May 4, a man was sucker punched while walking on San Tomas Aquino Road. The assailant, described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, blindsided the victim, landed a blow to the victim's stomach, and then took off.

The incident escalated near Elam/Crockett Ave. when the victim, recovering from the sudden attack, tried to chase the suspect. The pursuit was short-lived, but not without a peculiar twist, as the suspect, seemingly without concern, paused and looked at the camera while the victim managed to snap a photo before he continued his escape.

In a push to catch the perpetrator, the authorities have made the photograph taken by the victim public. The suspect is shown facing the lens moments after the incident, shortly before he was seen fleeing westbound on Elam Ave. towards Harriet Drive.

The Campbell Police request that anyone with information or who can recognize the individual in the photo come forward. "If you have any information about this incident or can identify the suspect from the photo, please contact us at (408) 866-2101," the department said in a statement. The police department also provided a digital avenue for tips through a Facebook link to the suspect's image.
