Memphis rapper Jucee Froot, whose real name is Terrica Alexander, is facing a serious legal battle after being indicted on a felony drug charge, authorities in DeSoto County, Mississippi, disclosed. The charge, involving 8.96 grams of psilocybin, colloquially known as magic mushrooms, follows a traffic stop by deputies on August 11, 2022, where Alexander, 29, was a passenger in a GMC Yukon. WREG reported the indictment Wednesday.

Alexander, a prominent figure in the Memphis music scene with contributions to several TV soundtracks and a following of over 650,000 on Instagram, was allegedly found in possession of the substance after the vehicle was pulled over for sporting a paper tag, as stated by Action News 5. If convicted, she could face up to eight years in prison. Alexander is currently out on bond, awaiting her day in court.

Psilocybin is known for its hallucinogenic effects and is a controlled substance under Mississippi law. "My administration is aggressively prosecuting felony drug charges because we know there is an insidious link between drugs and violent crime," District Attorney Matthew Barton remarked in a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis.

Jucee Froot has seen regional success and is signed with Atlantic Records. Her musical credits include songs like "Eat Me" from HBO’s "Insecure" and "Down In The Valley" from "P-Valley." Last year, the rapper also performed at the Beale Street Music Festival, marking a high point in her career before this legal issue arose, as per WREG.
