A quiet Sunday morning in the Northeast was shattered by gunfire, resulting in the death of an elderly man, police say. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 72-year-old Larry Kiser was found shot on the 2600 block of Bladensburg Road.

Officers from the Fifth District responded to the scene after reports of the shooting came in, around 11:35 a.m. on April 28, 2024. They discovered Kiser with critical injuries, from gunshot wounds, and he was swiftly transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Kiser, a resident of the Northwest, was identified by authorities as the victim. The Homicide Branch of the MPD is now undertaking a thorough investigation to piece together the fatal incident's circumstances.

As of yet, the police have not released information about possible suspects or motives connected to the shooting. The MPD is urging anyone with information to come forward and offer details that might lead to an arrest and closure for the community and the victim's family.
