The San José Police Department (SJPD) has apprehended a 53-year-old man for allegedly managing a brothel where multiple victims were ensnared. The suspect, identified by SJPD as Zhiqiang Liu from Rosemead, CA, was taken into custody following a tip-off that led to a police investigation.

The SJPD Human Trafficking Task Force moved quickly to investigate thoroughly, with the tip received on November 6, 2023. They promptly identified Liu as the suspect behind the illicit operation located at a residence on North 16th Street. An arrest warrant for Liu and a search warrant for the property were issued. According to a statement from SJPD, detectives, with backup from the FBI and other specialized units, executed the warrant on April 19. The raid resulted in Liu's arrest and the discovery of evidence suggesting a brothel was operated from the residence.

During the operation, authorities identified two adult female survivors of trafficking and provided them with the necessary resources. SJPD has charged Liu with pimping and pandering, and he has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The investigation remains active, with SJPD encouraging the community to come forward with any further information.

Officer Tanya Hernandez officially reported this operation via the SJPD news with an urge for public assistance: "Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Badal #4437 at the San Jose Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force." Community members are also encouraged to directly contact the San Jose Police Department HTTF at (408) 537-1999 or to use the P3TIPS app and submit tips anonymously.

The San José community is being called upon to play a crucial role in the big fight against this heinous crime by staying vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities they might encounter.
