A high-speed chase in Long Beach ended in tragedy when a car erupted into flames following a crash with a semi-truck, resulting in at least one fatality. The pursuit, which involved the Long Beach Police Department, concluded with a fiery collision on the northbound 710 Freeway near the Anaheim Street exit late Monday night, according to authorities. ABC7 News reported that four individuals were pulled from the burning vehicle and rushed to hospitals, where one of them later died.

Dramatic footage obtained by KTLA showed emergency responders braving the intense flames to drag the occupants to safety. Rushing towards the burning vehicle, officers managed to extract the occupants before fire crews extinguished the blaze. The cause behind the Long Beach Police Department's pursuit has not yet been disclosed.

The impact of the crash was severe enough to scatter debris across the freeway, leading to a complete shutdown of the northbound lanes for several hours. According to CBS News, the 710 Freeway was completely reopened to traffic by 1:30 a.m. Tuesday following the cleanup operation.
