A Macomb County man, Dennis Peterson Sr., 66, has been handed down a hefty sentence after a conviction on multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct with two children. As per The Detroit News, Peterson was convicted in March in two cases combined into one trial, where the abuse was said to have taken place between 2010-16 and 2012-16 in Chesterfield Township.

In detailing the sentence, officials stated that Peterson received 25 to 30 years for each of the three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13 years old, fees, fines, and all the other things that came with it apart from the promise that he will not be tolerated in the society as noted by Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido, as reported by CBS News Detroit.

Furthermore, Lucido was quoted stating, "This sentence underscores a fundamental truth: actions have consequences. In the face of numerous counts of criminal sexual conduct, justice demands accountability," signaling the severity of the crimes and commitment to protecting the community from such violators, as per CBS News Detroit.

Adding to the penalties, Peterson was also sentenced to serve between 9 and 15 years for two charges that state the victim was a relative, this revelation coming from sources in the Prosecutor's Office, and making it clear that being related to the victim could enhance the severity of his actions while the sentences are to run concurrently according to the office’s statement, both these points were covered by ClickOnDetroit.

Peterson’s attorney, Nicole Blank Becker, has not provided any comments on the sentencing at the time of this report, keeping a low profile just as the justice system, through the words of Prosecutor Lucido, proclaims loud and clear that breaches of this nature will face the unwavering hammer of justice.
