A tragic incident unfolded in West Palm Beach on Wednesday night when a man, reportedly walking along the train tracks, was struck and subsequently killed by a southbound Amtrak train. CBS12 reported that the collision occurred approximately 1,000 feet north of 15th Street, near Windsor Avenue.

West Palm Beach Police spokesperson Mike Jachles provided details about the accident, indicating that the individual was possibly homeless, according to the initial investigation. Speaking to CBS12, Jachles stated, "The man - possibly homeless - was struck on the tracks about 1,000 feet north of 15th Street, near Windsor Avenue." Following the tragic event, police closed the area to conduct their investigation but were able to reopen it by 10:30 p.m. that evening.

The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of next of kin. This incident adds to the ongoing concerns around pedestrian safety near train tracks, which has been a topic of numerous safety campaigns in recent years.
