A tragic event unfolded late Thursday night on I-40 near Donelson, when a motorcyclist was killed in what appears to be a hit-and-run incident, local Nashville stations reported. WKRN detailed the crash occurred in the westbound lanes close to the Briley Parkway interchange around 11:45 p.m., where one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe the victim was among a group of bikers riding together, and according to a witness driving a Buick Enclave acting as a buffer for the group, a truck "possibly a semi" overtook the Buick, sideswiped the now deceased motorcyclist, and then absconded from the vicinity; this account was confirmed in interviews taken by Fox17. The motorcyclist, identified by police as 35-year-old Justin Fortner of Joelton, was tragically thrown from his bike, leading to his untimely death.

Detectives are now on the hunt for the truck involved in this fatal collision, details of which has no description of the truck has currently been made public. The aftermath of the crash resulted in the temporary closure of the Briley Parkway exit ramp.
