Pierce County Deputies Arrest Fugitive Suspected of Drug, Gun Charges in Midland OperationSource: Pierce County Sheriff's Department

A fugitive facing drug and gun charges was nabbed Tuesday after ducking out on his court appearance, according to Pierce County Sheriff's blotter. The 33-year-old man, pegged a high-priority offender by the Prosecutor’s Office, was spotted by a deputy of the FBI’s South Sound Gang Task Force sauntering out of a gas station on Golden Given Rd E in the Midland area.

Task force deputies along with the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit cornered the suspect, taking him into custody without a struggle, even as the world outside remained oblivious to the gravity of the situation that was unfolding in that mundane slice of Midland neighborhood life, peacefully unaware of the drugs and past transgressions carried in the man's possession. In the man's backpack, a trove of narcotics was unearthed, comprising 14 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of fentanyl powder, and 100 fentanyl pills; baggies and a scale indicative of intent to distribute.

He was immediately booked into jail on his outstanding warrants and new-found drug possessions. Reinforcing the man's one-way ticket behind bars—the bail for his release was set at a daunting $300,000 for all the charges slammed against him.

An update on the arrest provided by Pierce County Sheriff’s blotter detailed that prosecutors had served up three additional counts of drug possession with intent to distribute to the man’s growing list of legal woes.
