Seattle residents should keep their umbrellas handy as the city gears up for a week punctuated by rain showers and possible thunderstorms. According to the latest forecast by the National Weather Service, a 30 percent chance of rain is expected overnight with the low settling around 51 degrees. As Saturday rolls in, so does a 70 percent chance of precipitation, with less than a tenth of an inch of new precipitation amounts forecasted.

Looking ahead to Saturday night and into Sunday, the dreary drizzle doesn't show signs of letting up. Cloudiness persists and rain probability stays consistent at 50 percent after 3 a.m., becoming a likely scenario by Sunday with similar chances of rain. Forecasters predict new rainfall amounts ranging between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, potentially impacting weekend plans.

Monday's outlook seems to follow suit with rain before 11 a.m. and a possibility of showers and a thunderstorm after. A balmy high near 56 degrees provides some solace despite the 90 percent chance of rain that persists into the evening. Residents can expect lighter showers and the potential rumble of thunderstorms ahead of a cool low around 43 degrees.

The week's gloom shows signs of breaking by Tuesday, with a chance of rain giving way to partly sunny skies and a high approaching 57 degrees. The weather takes a more favorable turn midweek, ushering in a respite of clearer skies. As reported by the National Weather Service, Wednesday welcomes mostly sunny conditions, while Thursday and Friday promise generous sunshine with temperatures soaring to a much more pleasant high near 73 degrees.
