New in the Neighborhood: Revolver

Earlier this month, boutique/gallery Revolver opened shop at 136 Fillmore, bringing its handcrafted apparel and singular wares to the Lower Haight. We're posting a more extensive blurb than usual today to profile this new addition to the neighborhood.

Located between Waller and Germania and formerly home to the One36 Gallery, the space has been thoroughly revamped by the Revolver team. Roughly stuccoed walls, furniture crafted from reclaimed wood, and curated touches like an antlered deer skull and antique wooden sled give the place an earthy, eclectic vibe. As co-owner Robert Patterson explains, the motto here is "truth in the details" — and it shows.

The store carries handmade, meticulously-crafted clothing for men and women, as well as unisex apparel. You'll find staples like t-shirts, jeans, shoes, and jackets from both trusted and emerging labels, alongside Revolver's own creations. Revolver also features books, jewelry, accessories, and rarer finds, such as McSweeney's epic San Francisco Panorama newspaper and tote bags made from repurposed sailcloth and horse reigns. It's an eccentric mix, but you get the sense that every item in the store has a story and a purpose. In fact, that's part of Revolver's ethos. "Our customers are people who care about what they buy," Patterson says. "We want people to consider what they're buying, and where and how it's made."
A smaller area in the rear of the shop serves as a gallery space. Currently on display is a collection of paintings by San Francisco-based artist Kirsten Tradowsky. Patterson tells us they expect to update the shows monthly. Revolver will be staying open till 11pm (with drinks!) this Friday night for the Lower Haight Art Walk (which we told you about last week), so swing by and check it out. And be sure to take your time — there's a lot here to enjoy.

Never miss a story.
