San Francisco locals, French Cassettes, start the night off. Doors open at 8pm. You have to enter now because the the winner will be chosen after the 2pm deadline today and then notified by email. Ganglians are a psychedelic group that have been around since 2007 and have a sound that melds 60's surf-pop with post punk tendencies. If you are a fan of local favs Thee Oh Sees, you should have no problem getting a good groove on to these guys. Check out some of their songs below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptY9S3yj7BY WARNING: the next song features snakes so if you have a fear of these reptiles, scroll down & keep on reading! http://youtu.be/FsozTlONWgc A Classic Education is an Italian band that has a dreamy 60's vibe with a European pop flavor thrown in. They've played shows with the likes of The Fresh & Onlys, as well as Arcade Fire. Check out the video for "Gone to Sea": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laGFuX7DqWs And what can we say about local band, French Cassettes? All we know is that this band makes us feel good about ourselves when we listen to them. Check out their upbeat grooves here. We also want to give props to the Rickshaw Stop. They have been open since 2004 and have had acts such as M.I.A., Vampire Weekend and Silversun Pickups come through their doors. The best part is they are right here in Hayes Valley. So before you go wandering all over town to get your indie music fix, check out the Rickshaw Stop calendar. Chances are you'll find a new band that you'll love and be able to say to your friends, "Oh, I was way into them before they blew up on KUSF-in-Exile." The Rickshaw Stop is at 155 Fell, between Van Ness & Franklin. Tickets are still available if you don't win the contest. And for more great indie music, check out the streaming broadcast from KUSF-In-Exile.
