Action at People's

We spied a couple of guys toting some shiny new sheetrock into People's last week. This made us remember how much we loved their sweet potato fries, so we wanted to know more.

There's not a whole lot to report, mostly because try as we might, we couldn't reach owner Mike Duong for comment. We tried loitering around People's trying to ask questions, but the workers were pretty hush-hush about the progress inside. So. We used a bit of google-fu to find out what's been going on since the space was badly damaged in a fire back in August of last year. Turns out People's recently filed for a slew of permits to rectify things. They're repairing and remodeling the kitchen, and according to the file, they're leaving the existing layout intact. How much damage, exactly? According to the building permit the filed with the city, a cool $78,000 worth. Wowzers. Of course, we'll do our best to keep digging to find out when the Haight will get its "great greasy spoon food, wifi, and old Lefties" back in business. Until then, see you at Blue Front.
