Back to the Farm
One of the oldest houses in the Haight--make that the city--is up for sale.

The house, on a small side street at the top of Masonic, has been around since 1860. That's right: pre-1906. It's an early farmhouse that was moved to its present location in the late 1880s, according to the real estate listing, and it's listed for about $2.6 million. This is what it looked like a long time ago, before the town got built and it was worth that much:

In 1993, 19 years ago, the house sold for $580,000. In case that didn't just make you cry, that translates to a 500% value increase. It no longer has room for cows, although we really wish it did.
