Shepard Fairey may have designed a pretty iconic poster back in 2008, but that doesn't mean he has a monopoly on Obama-inspired art. As it turns out, lots of people have been designing lots of Obama posters since then, and tonight a slew will be on display right here on Divisadero.

Local resident Max Slavkin spearheaded the project, dubbed Design For Obama, in 2008 to harness artists' talents in support of the Obama campaign. Slavkin has resurrected the project for 2012, telling us that new posters are being submitted every day. Tonight at Big Umbrella Studios (906.5 Divisadero, at McAllister), the entire Design For Obama collection will be on display for a free pop-up gallery show. There will be an open bar with free beer and wine, plus prints of selected posters on sale for $25. The event begins at 7:30pm. And if there are any conservative readers out there concerned about our apparent liberal bias, take heart. We had hoped to balance this post with mentions of nearby pro-Romney events, but unfortunately, we couldn't find any within 100 miles of the Lower Haight. Seriously.
