Red Vic in the News
After a hearing with the Planning Commission last week, Jack and Betsy Rix are ready to move forward with the renovation of the Red Vic.

Jack tells us that things went well at the hearing, and within the next few weeks they'll get the go-ahead from the Building Department and construction can finally and at long last begin in the old theater. SF Gate and Curbed have been covering the changes that we reported on back in March now that the plans are approved and official.
The curbed article talks a lot about the Alembic's expansion, but Jack is more interested in the repurposing of the Red Vic space, which is covered at greater length in the article on SF Gate. After all, the theater is keeping the old screen, and has plans to show movies on it. The marketplace and events space will make an independent movie theater a more sustainable business. If you're interested, you can check out the Planning Department's summary of the hearing that took place on September 27th here. Jack tell us he expects everything to go smoothly, and that once they get the OK from the Building Department, they'll be ready to start renovating the space by the end of November. And, as always, we'll have updates and photos along the way.
