Aether SF Grand Opening Tonight
In case you haven't seen the hubbub happening at the Proxy Project as of late, there are three matted-grey shipping containers stacked on each other like precarious giant-sized Jenga pieces. These 8' x 9.6' x 40' metal rectangles are the temporary home to Aether SF (489 Hayes), the first-ever standalone retail store for Aether Apparel. In celebration of the store's launch, the company, which is known for its performance sportswear, will be hosting a grand opening party tonight from 6pm to 9pm.

The bash will feature complimentary food and drinks from SF vendors and the full collection of Aether Apparel clothes for sale. There will also be a conversation between Dwell Magazine's Deputy Editor and the team behind the design and construction of the unique space. If you're interested in attending tonight's event, you can send an RSVP email to hayley [at] paulandwilliams {{dot}} com. To accomplish the store's prefab design, Aether Apparel partnered with architectural firm envelope A+D and metal fabrication studio Chris French Metal, Inc. The space boasts a glass-encased cantilevered lounge, oak floors, and a third floor conveyor system that can be used to grab whatever article of clothing the customer on the first floor desires. To get a sense of what it took to construct the space, check out this teaser video that Aether released yesterday: If you can't make tonight's party, have no fear. Aether will open for regular business tomorrow (Thursday). Its hours will be 11am to 7pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 11am to 6pm on Sunday. Personally, we're excited to see the Proxy, a project based on the principle of interim use, hosting yet another innovative endeavor. Welcome, Aether!
